Art In America

Josephine Halvorson

at Sikkema Jenkins & Co.,
530 W. 22nd St.

Josephine Halvorson's subtle mastery of texture and light is evident in the nine paintings on view in "Facings," her third show at Sikkema Jenkins. This time focusing the doors, windows and structures at her home in western Massachusetts, Halvorson's deftly depicts a woodshed's peeling paint, the dying embers in a stove and the pockmarked surface of a concrete foundation.
