Art In America

Mike Kelley

at MoMA PS1,
22-25 Jackson Ave.

For the first time, MoMA PS1 is given entirely to the work of a single artist in the retrospective "Mike Kelley." The works on view range from wooden birdhouses from the Detroit-born artist's late-1970s CalArts days to works from 2012, the year he took his own life. The span of his oeuvre matches the museum's sprawling site with themes including education and control, sex and trauma, and architecture and memory.
