Curators, artists and dealers came out to New York’s Soho House this Thursday night to celebrate artist Adam Pendleton’s recent Art in America feature article, published in the January issue. Pendleton and A.i.A. editor-in-chief Lindsay Pollock co-hosted the party.

In the article, titled “Blackness in Abstraction,” writer and Performa curator Adrienne Edwards explores the color black that characterizes much of Pendleton’s work, both in its materiality and its racial implications.

Edwards, also a PhD candidate in performance studies at NYU, was among the attendees, as were curators Klaus Biesenbach, Stuart Comer, Clarissa Dalrymple and RoseLee Goldberg.  Artist Jesper Just was also in attendance, along with dealer Marc Glimcher of Pace Gallery.
