The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Foundation has announced the endowment of its chief curator position, courtesy of the Jennifer Stockman, president of the foundation's board of trustees, and her husband, David Stockman. Nancy Spector, who has been with the Guggenheim since 1989, currently holds the position of chief curator and deputy director.

During her tenure at the institution, Spector has helped organize many exhibitions, including "Robert Rauschenberg: Performance" (1997), "Matthew Barney: The Cremaster Cycle" (2002–03) and "Maurizio Cattelan: All" (2011). Spector also served as the U.S. Commissioner for the 2007 Venice Biennale, where she staged an exhibition of work by Felix Gonzalez-Torres.

While announcing the new endowment, the Guggenheim Foundation director, Richard Armstrong, praised Spector: "With foresight and innovation, Nancy has organized many of the most compelling and important exhibitions of contemporary art, not just at the Guggenheim, but anywhere."
