Mark Lubell.

New York's International Center of Photography (ICP) has hired Mark Lubell as its new executive director, effective immediately. The former director of the international photographic cooperative Magnum Photos (2004-11), Lubell has been serving as a consultant for other archives of art and photography for the last two years.

Lubell succeeds Mark Robbins, whose resignation was announced late last month, after he accepted the position of president at the American Academy in Rome. He had been with the ICP for a year.

In a statement, ICP board president Jeffrey A. Rosen praised Lubell's "deep experience with photography, aptitude with digital technology, and managerial skills."

Located in Midtown Manhattan, ICP celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2014. Its collection comprises over 130,000 prints along with 200,000 negatives and other artifacts.
