New York’s Museum of Modern Art has promoted Roxana Marcoci to the post of senior curator in the department of photography.
On staff since 1999, Marcoci was first hired as a curatorial assistant in the department of painting and sculpture, and joined the photography department 10 years ago. This is her third promotion within the department, having previously risen from assistant curator to associate curator in 2005, and to curator two years later.
Among the exhibitions Marcoci has organized are “The Shaping of New Visions: Photography, Film, Photobook” (2012), the retrospective “Sanja IvekoviÄ?: Sweet Violence” (2011), “Comic Abstraction: Image-Breaking, Image-Making” (2007) and a Thomas Demand retrospective (2005).
Marcoci also serves the museum as chair of the Modern Women’s Fund Committee and the Central and Eastern European group of the Contemporary and Modern Art Perspectives (CMAP) in a Global Age. In addition, she is currently a visiting professor at Yale University School of Arts in the graduate program.
