Performa Launches Venice Biennale-Like Initiative

Performa has announced Pavilions Without Walls, a new program of multiyear collaborations with international artists. The initiative arranges collaborative projects that will be undertaken between Performa and artists from participating countries, and will premiere at the Performa 13 Biennial (Nov. 1–24). The commissioned works will focus on themes of cultural influence. Norway and Poland will be the inaugural participating nations.

Saul, Mekas Among Greenburger Prize Winners

The Omi International Arts Center, Gent, N.Y., has announced the recipients of the 2013 Francis J. Greenburger Award. The honorees are: Bruce Porter, selected by artist Frank Stella; Peter Saul, selected by gallerist Mary Boone; Jonas Mekas, selected by writer Phong Bui; Richard Nonas, selected by MASS MoCA director Joe Thompson; and Elaine Reichek, selected by collector Melva Bucksbaum. All five artists will receive an unrestricted $10,000 prize.
