EXPO Chicago Announces Participating Galleries

Expo Chicago has announced the participating galleries for the second annual International Exposition of Contemporary and Modern Art (Sept. 19-22) at Navy Pier's Festival Hall. Carnegie Museum of Art Focuses on Photography

The Carnegie Museum of Art launched the Hillman Photography Initiative today. Inspired by the widespread proliferation of images on social media platforms like Flickr, Instagram and Facebook, the new project aims to address contemporary issues in photography, particularly the intersection of artistic practice and technology. It is named for artist, collector and museum benefactor William T. Hillman and funded by the William T. Hillman Foundation. Read More

Lisa Tamiris Becker Named Director, U. of New Mexico Art Museum

Lisa Tamiris Becker has been appointed director of the University of New Mexico Art Museum, in Albuquerque. Becker has served as director at the CU Art Museum of the University of Colorado at Boulder since 2002. She was the interim director and curator of the Richard L. Nelson Gallery & The Fine Arts Collection at the University of California, Davis, from 2000-02. Read More

17 Million to Dallas Museum from Marguerite Steed Hoffman

The Dallas Museum of Art announced that DMA trustee and former chairman Marguerite Steed Hoffman has donated $17 million to the museum to create the Marguerite and Robert Hoffman Fund for European Art Before 1700. Stipulations of the gift allocate $13.6 million for acquisitions, and the remaining $3.4 million for exhibitions and programming.
