Malls R Us premieres at MoMA this weekend as part of the film exhibition Canadian Front 2009, which runs from tomorrow, March 18th to March 23rd. Directed by Helene Klodawsky and produced by Ina Richman, Malls R Us chronicles the rise of the urban and suburban shopping center in its multifarious forms. Though its title suggests a distinctly American purview -- it's a riff on the toy superstore Toys R Us -- Klodawsky and Richman pose this ever-growing phenomenon as a global one. Anti-mall bloggers and activists, along with supporters such as sci-fi author Ray Bradbury are featured along a journey that includes stops in Japan, Dubai, Poland and India. On view Saturday, March 21st at 6:00 pm; and Monday, March 23rd at 8:30 pm. See MoMA's website for additional details.
