How We See: James Turrell's Three-Museum Retrospective

Three major American museums have collaborated to feature exhibitions opening this spring and devoted to Light and Space artist James Turrell. In addition to major shows at New York's Guggenheim Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, a mammoth retrospective at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art opens May 26, showcasing six decades of Turrell's work, including his pioneering experiments in light projection, in over 33,000 square feet of gallery space. Read More

Venice Biennale Collateral Events Announced

Lawrence Weiner, Ai Weiwei and Shirazeh Houshiary are among the art stars who will be featured in the 48 collateral events to take place during the Venice Biennale (June 1-Nov. 24) at locations throughout the city. All are organized by nonprofits. The biennale office released the full list today. Read More

Oldenburg's Pure Pleasures at MoMA

"Pastry and art are two forms of pleasure. If you combine them, you get two times the pleasure," Claes Oldenburg said at today's press preview for his two-part show, "Claes Oldenburg: The Street and the Store" and "Claes Oldenburg: Mouse Museum/Ray Gun Wing," at New York's Museum of Modern Art (Apr. 14-Aug. 5). The statement carries much of the same simplicity and appeal that runs throughout the artist's work. Read More
