Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Awards 30 Artist Grants

The Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation announced today the 30 recipients of its 17th biennial grants to American contemporary artists, each an unrestricted $20,000. The awards go to visual artists working in the fields of painting, sculpture, installation, photography, video and craft media.

Chosen from some 130 nominations, the winners are Mequitta Ahuja, Darren Bader, Trisha Baga, Moyra Davey, Josh Faught, LaToya Ruby Frazier, Mandy Greer, Shadi Habib Allah, David Hartt, Maren Hassinger, Sergey Jivetin, Lauren Kelley, Thomas Lanigan-Schmidt, Miguel Luciano, J.J. McCracken, Rodney McMillian, Nicole Miller, Dianna Molzan, Rashaad Newsome, William J. O'Brien, Karthik Pandian, Michael Rakowitz, Ivor Shearer, Erin Shirreff, Anna Shteynshleyger, Slanguage, Zoe Strauss, Matthew Szösz, Wu Tsang and Anicka Yi.

The 2011 jury chose the winners from some 130 nominations. The jury for this go ‘round consisted of Dan Byers, Associate Curator of Contemporary Art, Carnegie Museum of Art; Christine Y. Kim, Curator, Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Kerry James Marshall, artist; John Perreault, independent curator, critic, artist, poet and founder of Artopia; Scott Rothkopf, curator, Whitney Museum of American Art; Cindy Sherman, artist; and Paul Smith, Director Emeritus, American Craft Museum.
