Paul Schimmel, Longtime Curator, Departs LA MOCA

Long-serving chief curator Paul Schimmel has left his job at the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art.

"Paul Schimmel is stepping down as MOCA's chief curator. It is amicable," according to a statement by MOCA Board Co-Chair David G. Johnson. The museum says more information will be forthcoming tomorrow.

An earlier version of this story, based on reports published at the L.A. Times and elsewhere, reported that Schimmel had been dismissed. The museum contradicts these reports.

We will update this story as more information becomes available.
