No Salvador Dallas After All

The Dallas Museum of Art has announced that despite having raised tens of millions of dollars, the museum will not acquire Salvator Mundi, a painting recently re-attributed to Leonardo da Vinci. A.i.A. reported in July that the museum was considering purchasing the painting.

The painting on panel is reportedly in the hands of a group of dealers, who, the museum notified A.i.A. in an e-mail, declined its offer, the amount of which was not specified. Several people familiar with the situation, speaking to A.i.A. off the record, said that the asking price was $200 million.
