In the year and a half that Andrew Edlin’s company Wide Open Arts has operated the Outsider Art Fair (OAF), the New York dealer has instituted many changes to the 21-year-old fair. For the winter 2013 outing, the OAF moved to the former Dia building on 22nd Street, and last fall the fair’s Paris edition debuted in a boutique hotel near the Champs Elysées.
This year, Edlin has delayed the New York edition’s opening by a few months, to May 8-11, to coincide with the Frieze New York Art Fair (held on Randall’s Island, May 9-12).
Today Edlin announced the OAF’s 47 participating international galleries. Among the first-time participants are three New York dealers: Marlborough Chelsea, Hirschl & Adler and Zieher Smith.
